Worf bears the distiction of the first Klingon to enter and graduate from Starfleet Academy. He was born on the Klingon homeworld, but after an attack on the outpost where he lived left him wounded and his parents dead, he was adopted by a human couple. Worf had difficulty reconciling his Klingon sense of honor into the human culture with which he served, but still managed to befriend many of the officers of the Enterprise. Commander Riker was one of his best friends and staunchest supporters. As security officer, Worf was often called upon to deal with threats, such as the Borg, sometimes allowing his Klingon blood to cloud his Starfleet training. Worf would go on to serve as chief of security on the Deep Space Nine space station, but returning to the Enterprise and his friends when they needed him most.
