ThreeA announced the production of the enormous Metal Gear Solid Rex in November 2009, and after some development time, put it up for pre-order on March 3, 2012. The regular edition, seen in this Photo Archive, began shipping in November, 2012.

With a mouch smaller production run, ThreeA also produced a Bambaland exclusive version which came with different packaging and a Solid Snake pilot to fit inside Rex's "mouth" cockpit.
