Just like a Mogwai, we don't recommend you get these wet, expose to direct sunlight, or feed after midnight, because they are playing cards! What you can do is grab some friends and play this awesome game that resembles some of the mechanics of the classic card game war.

The object of the game is to collect the most Gremlins before the sunrises the second time. The way to collect is to slap the piles of matching cards, or the same pile with two matches on top of each other. Players discard face up one at a time on their location, based on one of the featured spots in the film. As players produce a Gremlin match to another pile, one player can slap each pile to claim the cards underneath.

There are some cards that alter the gameplay. Fountains require the player to put down three additional cards because water makes Gremlins multiply, get it? A Gizmo card allows players to slap other non-Gizmo piles to claim them, but burns all the cards under the Gizmo pile and removes them from play. Of note, we did not find the Gizmo likeness on the card all that flattering. The box art looked far better. Lastly, the sunrise card allows you to slap that pile and take everything under it. The second appearance of the card and slap, ends the game.

Overall, we found the game incredibly easy to learn. We also tested with an eight-year-old who picked it up immediately. Funko Games has again found a way to bring one of your favorite holiday films to a quick and easy game suited for long car rides or around the table with family. This would make the perfect stocking stuffer for fans of the movie or just kids who love a good slap card game. You can pick it up at most major retailers this holiday season. Just make sure you turn on all the lights, you can never be too safe.
