For the second time, Oliver Stone’s Academy Award winning 1986 feature film Platoon is the subject of a 1/6 scale series of collectible figures. The first series, produced in 2002-2003 by Sideshow Collectibles was ahead of its time, and many argued that it would never be topped, and up until 2010 it remained one of the most impressive collections ever produced in that scale. When, in the summer of 2010, Hot Toys revealed the first figure in their Platoon collection 1/6 scale collectors knew the long reign of the original line was about to end and the new collection, assuming it is as complete (if not more complete) as the original.
Following the Chris Taylor figure from 2010, the Sergeant Barnes, which began shipping in April 2011, is the second piece in the Hot Toys Platoon Movie Masterpiece Series. At the time of its release no other figures have been announced for the collection. |
