Cool Toy Review 2013 Year in Cool Toys: Mid-Sized Line of the Year
Published by Rich on January 8, 2014 at 09:42 AM CST |

This year, MattyCollector.com's Masters of the Universe Classics line shined. After fielding complaints from fans of the line that some of the character selection was getting a bit too obscure, Mattel re-routed the line's roadmap for 2013 and delivered a year loaded with never-before-produced A-listers and long-overdue heavy hitters. Four Horsemen Studios' fantastically interpreted, classicized sculpts accompany each figure and, as usual, the Horsemen made some ingenious modifications to get the most out of the aging MOTUC buck. Yes, Hasbro's new 6-inch Star Wars line burst onto the scene this year, but it's got some kinks to work out. Yes, NECA had a fantastic showing in 2013 and their material choices, sculpts and engineering are among the best in the industry, however, we felt the longevity of the MOTUC line, it's focus on fan-demanded characters and the unprecedented direct line of communication between the Mattel and collectors makes Masters of the Universe Classics our mid-sized figure line of the year for 2013.
