McFarlane Toys: NHL Set For Expansion Posted by Rich on September 15, 2007 at 12:06 AM CST: Doesn't it seem like the NHL is always expanding? In keeping with tradition McFarlane Toys has decided to do a little NHL expansion of its own. Beginning in January, McFarlane's Sports Picks NHL waves will feature six unique figures instead of the usual four. The first round will feature repainted, retro versions of Trevor Linden and Joe Sakic in their Vancouver Canucks and Quebec Nordiques garbs, repectively. However, future waves promise the prospect of entirely new scuplts. The retro duo join Toronto's Jason Blake, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, Washington's Alexander Ovechkin and Buffalo's Ryan Miller to comprise wave 17. Strong sales, particularly in Canada, factored in the decission to expand the waves.
