NECA: The Nightmare Before Christmas Ends With Series 6

After more than 5 years of producing Action Figures for Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, NECA will release its last series of action figures this Fall. "It came to a point where almost every character, in every form had been done, and done well," states Joel Weinshanker, President and COO of NECA. To go any further would have lessened the great job that has been done and developing more expensive "limited edition" toys would have not been good for the figure collectors. "We have made almost 30 different characters come to life in action figure form and at this juncture we're left with tertiary characters that are just not recognizable enough to the casual fans and customers," Weinshanker explained. We will continue to offer new figures this year, and sell out any remaining figures from years past, but after that, all tooling will be destroyed and we will not be producing any more.
To the company, the real excitement and creativity in the past few years has been focused on all the interesting ways to incorporate the world of The Nightmare Before Christmas into people's lives. Cool limited edition pieces of art along with assorted giftware and other collectible items have had both old and new fans of the license clamoring for more. We anticipate creating and manufacturing The Nightmare Before Christmas items that the fans want for many years to come.
