NYCC: Kridana Toys Comics & Action Figures
Posted by Curto on April 18, 2008 at 02:00 PM CST:
Kridana Toys Offers Limited Edition Comics Based On Great Indian Epics with Exclusive Mike Turner Covers and Killer Action Figures at NYCC!

Kridana (kree-da-na): Sanskrit, meaning toy or plaything.

Kridana is an entertainment company that brings to life the Great Indian Epics. We are doing this with a line of innovative, eye-catching action figures and included comics. Kridana's products are inspired and informed by the Ramayana. This is a 2,000 year old tale of Prince Rama, his beautiful wife Princess Sita, Rama's faithful attendant Hanuman and the trio's arch-enemy, the evil King Ravana. Cast into exile by the actions of his treacherous stepmother, Lord Rama must vanquish the evil demon-king Ravana and recapture his kidnapped wife before he can return to his rightful place on the throne of the magical kingdom Adhoya! In his struggle to fulfill his father’s dying wish, Rama must battle for good and defeat evil at every turn.

Fortunately, evil never had such a fearsome opponent as Prince Rama! His bow and arrow never miss their mark. His strength is unequaled. He alone among the powerful princes of India was able to break the god Shiva’s ancient mighty bow in two. Rama's shimmering golden armor protects him from all manner of weapons. Time and time again, Ravana’s legions of generals and demon-rakshasas try to kill Rama and Hanuman. With Lord Hanuman, a clever and resourceful warrior from a tribe of monkey people, at his side, Rama ultimately prevails and defeats the forces of evil in a 14-year long quest. All of which makes for some pretty cool material for toys and action figures.

The Ramayana has entertained and educated Indian children for millennia. Families have passed down the story from generation to generation, though it has never been brought to life in toys. Until now. Enter Kridana. We aim to let kids save the world, Indian-style, and to let collectors savor the stylings of our world-class offerings.

Last fall we unveiled our first products. Comic book fans loved our limited edition Mike Turner cover on the first issues of our Ramayana comic series. At New York Comic Con we will bring to life our next figure, the evil King Ravana. And attendees will get a chance to buy our special first edition of Kridana's new Ramayana comic book series with cover art by Aspen Comic's Mike Turner, the legendary artist behind such work as Soulfire and Marvel's Civil War covers. The Kridana Turner cover was only pressed 12,000 times for this inaugural issue and will never be printed again. That makes this first edition an instant collector's item and a must-buy at Comic Con. Even better, Comic Con attendees who visit our booth will have the chance to win one of only 30 Kridana comics signed by Turner himself.

Come visit us live and in person at New York Comic Con at booth #863 where our illustrator and sculptor – two of the key artists behind these amazing toys and comics – will both be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs! Or visit us online at www.kridana.com.

Kridana - bringing the Indian Epics to life.

ABOUT KRIDANA
Founded in 2007, Kridana is a toy company dedicated to bringing to life the Great Indian Epics through the power of play. As a child growing up in India and the United States, our founder, Mahender Swami Nathan, was captivated by this world of heroes, demons, adventures and intrigue. Nathan loved his Transformers and GI Joes but wondered why he wasn't playing with action figures of Rama and Hanuman, the heroes of stories his grandmother had told him as child. His answer to this question is Kridana, a company dedicated to bringing the great Indian epics to life with top quality toys and comics. Collectors love the fine craftsmanship of our products and attention to details. Parents love our products because they conform to the highest safety standards. Kridana products are made with non-phthalate PVC plastic, a safer type of PVC material. To ensure our toys are lead-free and manufactured to the highest quality standards, Kridana pays for rigorous, third-party testing by world-class test labs. (The company even posts the results of these tests on its website!). Kids love our toys because they are colorful, cool and fun to play with. Kridana - bringing the Classic Indian Epics to life.
