When we first mentioned that Tom Hardy had joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, we speculated that he may be playing The Black Mask or Dr. Hugo Strange, but with today's Warner Bros. press release, we now know that he will take the role of Bane (the guy who broke Batman's back for those not in the know). Also announced was Anne Hathaway portraying Selina Kyle, the character brought to life in both the 60's Batman series by Julie Newmar & Eartha Kitt, and then defined in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. In all previous live action appearances the character appeared as Catwoman, but Warner's announcement doesn't say anything about her alter ego. Only time will tell. Stay tuned!
