Sideshow Collectibles: An Old Favourite Returns!
For any long-time Sideshow Freaks, the latest teaser from Sideshow Collectibles is big news. While we don't have details on what the line will be (though we're betting it will be a Premium Format collection), SSC has announced they are returning to their Six Gun Legends line of historical Wild West figures. NYCC09: Hasbro's Marvel Universe
Marvel Mania is here! With New York Comic Con taking place a week before Toy Fair, this makes is a challenge for Hasbro to bring out all the secrets for their upcoming Marvel Universe line. It's not that they don't want to let fans in on all the great toys that are coming, but they've got to save something to announce next weekend! However, Hasbro does not disappoint with this line, not only showing many figures that have not been shown before, but also dropping a few tasty treats for fans. You can get a glimpse of the upcoming Gigantic Battles figures, and also start to determine who your favorite 5 characters are: Marvel Universe will feature a Fan's Choice series right from the start! It's 70 years of Marvel, with 70 different characters to choose from. Who will you choose? Be sure to stay tuned later this weekend, as I sit down for an interview with Hasbro's Marvel team and tried to get some more info on this highly-anticipated line. Full Report

New York Comic Con offers up the first official look at Hasbro's upcoming lines of Wolverine Toys! Taking inspiration from both the X-Men Origins Wolverine feature film & the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series, these two lines are similar in scale but very different. The displays look great, although sadly the Sentinel base is not for sale. There are store exclusive aplenty with the movie line, which will feature a mix of both comic book versions and movie versions of the characters from Wolverine's sordid past. Full Report

New York Comic Con has only completed the first day, and already there's a runaway theme (well, okay, there are several themes this year): the return of Ghostbusters! It's been 25 years since the original movie took over pop culture and became a phenomenon, and it looks like we might see a new wave of fans once again. Mattel's plans for this line include a 6" line of action figures as well as a 12" line with cloth outfits. These are due in the fall, but you can check out the early prototypes in our new gallery. Another highlight at Mattel's booth during New York Comic Con is the updated and exclusive Masters of the Universe Classics toy line, which had a gallery featuring all of the announced and/or released figure to date on display. This VERY impressive toy line is a big hit with fans, and the future is looking bright for the denizens of Eternia. A quick note: the upcoming exclusive Stratos will now be available on February 17th, and not the 15th as originally announced. This is because the 15th is a Sunday. Today's Photo Archive entry marks a pretty significant milestone. In 1964, Hasbro created the action figure genre when they introduced their first G.I. Joe figure. Fast forward forty-five years, the genre has been the cornerstone of boys toys (and lets face it, the reason we're all here at CTR, writers and readers alike), and for the very first time ever, Hasbro has allowed another company the opportunity to release a Joe of their own.
